The oil of the vehicle should be changed regularly to ensure that the indicator is within an acceptable range. Regularly changing the oil of the vehicle is the top priority of car maintenance. How often should the oil filter element be replaced? How to change the oil, oil filters correctly!

Precautions

First of all, changing the oil is a daytime job. When changing the oil, be sure to comply with the requirements of the user manual, the specific process can refer to the following steps.

Preparation tools

1. Sufficient amount of new engine oil: Check your user manual to select the appropriate SAE viscosity, API performance and quantity of engine oil required.

2. A new oil filter element: Most vehicles use rotating oil filter elements of different models and sizes. (Check your user manual to select the appropriate model and size).

3. Engine Filter Wrench: This is a necessary tool when changing the Engine Oil Filter.

4. Gloves: Cotton gloves are required. Wear gloves first to prevent slippage and secondly to prevent burns.

5. Waste oil basin: Be sure to use waste oil basin to prevent oil from flowing everywhere. Suggestion: Put a plastic bag on the basin, which is more convenient to dispose of the waste oil, and it can also make the basin cleaner.

6. A funnel and a wooden wedge. (These two items are not necessary, it’s best to have them)

7. Jack: bring it when you pick up the car.

8. Wrench: 15mm wrench.

Replacement steps

1. Vehicle preparation

Run the engine to reach operating temperature. Then use a jack to jack up the vehicle, pull up the handbrake and squeeze the front wheel with a wooden wedge. Drill into the chassis to see the situation (note that you must first understand the special safety precautions mentioned in your user manual).

2. Drain the old oil

Use a 15mm wrench to loosen a little bit of the oil plug screw counterclockwise. At this time, put the plastic bag-covered basin under the screw. After placing the basin, continue to screw the screw with your hands. When the oil drips, you must carefully unscrew the screw to avoid being burned by the hot oil. (It is recommended to do maintenance after cooling the car).

3. Remove the oil filter element

When the oil flow is almost the same, you can use the filter wrench to unload the filter. Open the oil cap on the engine cover and loosen the oil filter element counterclockwise with a filter element wrench. Unscrew the oil filter element from the engine compartment, taking care not to touch the hot exhaust manifold. There is still a little residual oil in the machine filter at this time, be careful not to drip everywhere.

Fourth, the preparation work before installation of the oil filter element

1. Vertically installed oil filter element

It is connected to the oil pump through an oil pipe. Generally, it is recommended that the user replace the filter to fill the filter element with oil. If the filter of the new machine is not filled with oil, air resistance will be generated inside the new filter element, which will cause a short-term lack of oil lubrication inside the machine when the car is started, which will cause structural wear. The advantage of the vertical installation method is that the filter element has better sealing performance and there is little oil leakage.

2. Oil filter element installed horizontally

It is directly connected to the oil pump without passing through the oil pipeline. This design does not generate air resistance inside the filter when filling the oil tank with oil. The filter element does not need to be lifted to fill the oil before installation. While injecting new engine oil, the oil filter element can be directly filled with engine oil.

Five, add new oil

On the top of the engine, you will see a lid with the word "oil". Open the oil cap, insert a funnel and inject a certain amount of oil, pull out the dipstick to determine whether it is fully installed. Then close the oil cap and wipe off the spilled oil.

6. Start the engine for a few minutes

Then turn it off and check the dipstick again to determine if the oil level is proper. Finally, check if there is any oil leakage from the bottom of the vehicle.

Seven, dispose of used oil

Finally, from the perspective of safety and environmental protection, this is the most important step, which is to properly dispose of used or waste oil discharged from vehicles. Waste oil is very harmful to the environment, so safe disposal of waste oil is extremely important. It is recommended that you put the waste oil in a sealed container and consult your local auto repair shop for safe disposal methods. It is possible that the auto repair shop near you can recycle the waste oil and recycle it or dispose of it safely.
